Instagram has 10 million users in France and 391.9 million mentions for the hashtag "#food" in 2021. Giving your restaurant visibility by creating an Instagram account is therefore an excellent way to promote your restaurant or online store. Part mobile social network, part image and video sharing app, Instagram is the #1 marketing tool for attracting new customers. So how can you develop your Instagram account to increase your visibility with mobile users and on the web?

6 tips for developing your restaurant's Instagram account

1. Create an Instagram account for your restaurant

Let's start at the beginning: creating an Instagram account for your restaurant or store. To do this, you don't need to be a communications pro, just follow these simple steps:

  • Download the mobile application on the App Store (iPhone / iPad) or Google Play (Android).
  • Register and choose an account name: the name of the restaurant so that users can find you easily.
  • Activate synchronization with Facebook and Twitter. To do this, go to: Options > Account > Share settings.
  • Complete your profile with photos, your logo and your products.
  • Write a short informative text - including who you are and the restaurant's address - and include a link to your website. Your profile bio is the only place to encourage your subscribers to visit your web page.

2. Define content

Before any publication, define a sort of editorial line that will guide your content creation by meeting the following 3 criteria: quality, consistency and creativity. Make sure you have a consistent visual identity on your Instagram account. Use filters, colors and fonts that reflect the mood of your restaurant and create a consistent visual experience.

You don't need a professional camera to take great photos. A photo taken with your smartphone is all you need, especially as Instagram lets you enhance the image with the filters on offer.

Keep in mind that Instagram isn't just a catalog of beautiful photos. Don't just show off your products, be creative and enhance the world of your establishment with a short, original text under the photo or video.

Know that, very often, the key to success on Instagram is regularity, authenticity and engagement with your "followers" to create a unique and memorable experience around your restaurant.

‍3. Create a community

What's important is to be close to your subscribers and followers, to build loyalty: share photos on a daily basis, create a strong bond between you and your fans, in short: be yourself and be authentic. Regularly publish high-quality, attractive content that showcases your cuisine, your dishes, your atmosphere and your team.

Bring your Instagram account to life and engage your community of followers. Respond to the comments people leave under your posts, mention and tag your suppliers and partners, and participate in discussions related to your industry. It shows you're active and attentive to your community.

Use Instagram's Stories and Live features to share real-time moments with your followers. You can show behind-the-scenes footage of the restaurant, special dishes being prepared, special events, etc. This will give a feeling of intimacy with your audience.

Grab your audience's attention by running contests or offering special deals via your Instagram account. This will encourage users to interact with your content and share it with their own followers.

4. Analyze the data and adjust your strategy

Use the analytics tools provided by Instagram to track the performance of your posts, get to know your target audience and adjust your strategy accordingly. This will help you understand what works best and optimize your efforts.

These statistics provide you with valuable information such as impressions, reach, engagement, key audience activity hours, subscriber demographics and more. Analyze this data regularly to understand what type of content is working and what aspects of your strategy need adjustment.

Once you've analyzed this data, use it to adjust your strategy and keep an eye on how your audience is evolving! You might decide to publish more content similar to publications that have done well, try out new types of content, tweak your hashtags, experiment with Stories or live videos, and so on. The aim is to keep evolving based on feedback from your audience and current trends.

5. Target advertising for your restaurant on Instagram

Today, organic traffic is no longer enough to reach your community on social networks. Paid advertising and personalized marketing are essential to reach your entire community. The aim: to attract younger, more connected customers through targeted advertising
